Dear Friends of the
Chamber Orchestra of the Springs:
The 2001-2002 concert series represents a major landmark for the Chamber
Orchestra - the 20th Anniversary Season!
I'm humbled to be on the podium for this important anniversary,
celebrating my sixth year as Music Director in a world where brief conductor
tenures are the norm.
I've watched with amazement as the artistic generosity of our musicians,
the stalwart dedication of our Board of Directors,
and the enthusiastic support of our audiences have combined to lift the
Chamber Orchestra to new heights while orther orchestras around the country
have sturggled.
We are on solid financial and artistic ground,
and our 20th Anniversary is only the beginning!
I invite you to look over our season schedule.
This year brings exciting collaborations with outstanding soloists and
a visit from the incomparable DaVinci Quartet.
Our programs offer a delicate balance of the great classics,
forgotten gems,
and the best new music
- all part of our commitment to bring
inspiration, exploration, and epiphany to our audiences.
A little more than a month before the opening of our 20th
Anniversary Season,
all of America watched in disbelief as the events of September 11, 2001,
changed everything we thought we knew about our world.
The Chamber Orchestra of the Springs is proud to serve our community
during these confused times.
Events like these draw us closer to each other,
and closer to art in all its forms.
Empires can crumble, fortunes can dwindle,
and governments can be toppled,
but art remains.
The arts are the fabric of our humanity,
and our most admirable expression of the beauty, truth, justice,
and unity for which we strive.
