Dear Friends of Chamber Music,
These are humbling times, but not in the way you might expect.
Our country, and indeed the world, has seen the most turbulent years in recent
memory, and we've watched as the arts have been tossed and driven amid that chaos.
As in the past, however, the arts have gracefully weathered the storm, with some exceptions,
and remain a vital part of our lives.
What's humbling is watching a small organization like the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs
actually grow in these times, take on new challenges, and serve its community even better.
Compared to a year ago, the Chamber Orchestra is serving larger audiences
and has far more season ticket subscribers.
We have committed even more energy to our mission of raising our artistic standards.
Our performance of Gian Carlo Menotti's Martin's Lie with the
Colorado Springs Conservatory reached the largest audience we've ever seen
and won "Best Collaboration" in the Gazette.
Behind the scenes, we have an energized board of directors working tirelessly
to improve our visibility and our professionalism in daily operations.
What's even more humbling is the sincerity of this orchestra's mission.
We've avoided the elitist trappings that often deter new listeners, and instead have
concentrated on passionate performances of great music.
Projects like Martin's Lie have a way of knocking Classical music off its pedestal,
while revealing the universality of its message.
So, I'm humbled by the success of this wonderful orchestra.
It's what I've always wished for them, and what I've tirelessly fought for since receiving
the honor of leading them.
We invite all of you to share in the great things that are happening
for the Chamber Orchestra.
Together, we can grow an orchestra that will make our community proud.
With every good wish,
