July 2011:  Pikes Peak Arts Council Award of Excellence nominees announced and COS has been nominated twice in the Small Ensemble  category for:  Ravel, “Piano Concerto in G Major,” Kelly Zuercher, pianist; and Chamber Orchestra of the Springs and Colorado Vocal Arts Ensemble: “Voices of Light”

June 2011: We are happy to announce Bryan Oller will be our new administrative manager.  Bryan is well-known in the Springs as a photojournalist. We’re looking forward to working with him.

March 2011: A series of free symphonic concerts will return to Colorado Springs’ parks and open spaces, thanks to a $50,000 gift from the Charles Ansbacher Foundation to the Bee Vradenburg Foundation.  For 2011, the Free for All Summer Symphony concert will be performed by the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs in late summer. The Chamber Orchestra will be joined by singers of the local chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, and the performance will take place in Monument Valley Park in the area below the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. Organization of the concert is supported by the Fine Arts Center and is part of an FAC summer series that will include events in the FAC courtyard and a second concert in Monument Valley Park.

 

January 2011: We are happy to announce Danielle Nieves Oller will be our new administrative manager. Recently, she was a community relations specialist for Pikes Peak Library District and has extensive experience cultivating relationships with patron and the media through this position, as well as a broad knowledge of the local nonprofit, education, and business sectors. Her past experience includes work on the World Music Series and the Shivers Fund at PPLD.

October 12, 2010: Our new concertmaster, Jacob Klock will be playing the Serenade No. 2 in G minor, op. 69b on the Season Finale.

September 5, 2010: Our Season Premiere Program has changed. The Fauré Elégie for Cello and Orchestra, originally set for our April Season Finale will now be performed on our October program. Click Here for more details

August 28, 2010: We are happy to announce that Jacob Klock will be the new concertmaster for the orchestra. Timothy Crawford is our new principal bass.

August 23, 2010: Announcing the addition of Sunday pre-concert lectures for the October and November concert series, 1:45 PM, in the Fellowship Hall at First Christian Church.

June 2010: The Chamber Orchestra of the Springs has received a matching grant of $4000 from the Colorado Creative Industries, a state agency. This grant was awarded through the CCI’s Colorado Creates Program and it will support the Community in Unison Concert and Volunteer Festival to be held Friday, Sept. 10, 2010. State grants are awarded through a competitive process. This grant signifies that COS provides a high level of quality in its programs, community service and administrative ability.
