John Robert Lindsey, a native of Colorado, is currently pursuing his Masters of Vocal Performance at the University of Colorado at Boulder, studying with Dr. Joel Burcham. He completed his undergraduate degree at Colorado State University in Fort Collins under the guidance of Dr. Todd Queen.
This spring, John was seen as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, the character of Stage Manager in Ned Rorem’s Our Town, and tenor soloist in The Messiah. Other notable performances include Sam in Street Scene, Fenton in Falstaff, Male Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia, and Pang in Turandot. He has also been seen in concert with the Fort Collins Symphony and Colorado Springs Philharmonic orchestras. In the spring of 2009 John was a district finalist at the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions where he was awarded the Artist Encouragement Award. In 2010 he proceeded to the Rocky Mountain regional finals where he received the Diamond Wendleboe Award, and later in March of the same year he placed third in the Denver Lyric Opera Guild competition.
He has performed regionally with CSU Opera Theater, CU Opera Theater, the Opera Theater Singers outreach program at CU Boulder, Fort Collins Symphony, Loveland Symphony, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Emerald City Opera, and Crested Butte Opera.
Upcoming engagements include the CU New Opera Workshop (where he will perform new operatic works by American composers and participate in a masterclass with tenor Anthony Dean Griffey), a song recital in the fall, and concert soloist with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic in January 2011.
