Amahl and the Night Visitors with the Colorado Springs Conservatory

December 2nd and 3rd, 2011
Packard Hall
This timeless holiday treasure offers a unique and accessible introduction to opera for audiences of all ages. The one-act operetta by Gian Carlo Menotti is sung in English and bathed in muted colors.

The cast was composed of young people from area school districts who study music and theater at the Conservatory, and featured
CSC alumni Roger Sidebotham and Brian Harris. Linda Weise, who brought the character of Amahl's mother to life in the original Chamber Orchestra/Conservatory production almost a decade ago, reprises that role. This American production is the quintessential seasonal story for the whole family.

Dear Linda and The Colorado Springs Conservatory,

Thank you so much for your performance of Amahl a couple of weeks ago. Every time I see it, I love it more and more. As I left Packard Hall on that very chilly Saturday afternoon and walked the few blocks back to my car, I felt nothing but warmth and love in my heart for the present I had just received. Seeing Amahl is such a priceless gift because it delivers a sense of peace that I carry with me throughout the season. The miracle in this is that I am able to be more present to God and to all those around me while the "holiday rush" seems to swirl at a distance. To be honest, I can't imagine a more perfect gift than that. I only hope that the peace you give to others remains in abundance in your own hearts as well.

With Love and Gratitude,

Martha Lutz
