Elliot Lippy, cello

Elliot Lippy, 18, is a senior in high school currently studying with Dr. John Lutterman of University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) and David Requiro of University of Colorado Boulder. He began studying cello at the age of 13, after a year of piano. During his time in Alaska, Elliot had the opportunity to perform with Anchorage Symphony, Anchorage Civic Orchestra, and Sinfonia, UAA’s orchestra. He also got to participate in UAA’s student recitals, ensembles, and upper level theory classes. Elliot has participated in masterclasses with Zuill Bailey and Carter Brey, and was the winner of the Anchorage Civic Orchestra’s Concerto Competition with Boccherini’s Concerto in Bb. When he moved to Colorado this last year, Elliot joined Colorado Springs Youth Symphony’s cello quartet, participated in the Boulder Cello Festival, and was the first prize winner of the Charleston International Music Competition. Elliot is also a composer; he has written almost 300 total compositions, including many standard genres like sonatas, various chamber ensembles, and symphonies. Elliot will be attending university as a freshman in cello performance this fall.

Alan Davis, piano

Alan is currently a senior at Palmer Ridge High School, set to graduate May 2022. He recently received a Congressional Nomination to the U.S. Air Force Academy, soon followed by an offer of appointment, and is excited to begin his Air Force career this summer. From a young age, Alan has had a deep love and appreciation for music. Upon arrival in the Springs area, he began studies with Gina Forero following studies with Ara Gevorkian with whom he is currently studying. Alan has always dreamed of playing with an orchestra and is very excited to be performing with Chamber Orchestra of the Springs this year. He has been a nine year winner of the PPMTA music competitions. He has also been selected as the first chair of the Colorado Springs All City Honor Band and is a member of the Colorado All State Orchestra Symphony Orchestra and Colorado All State Band. Outside of his music studies, Alan is an intermountain region ranked tennis player, an eager student and an active member of his church. In any free time Alan enjoys spending it with family and friends, volunteering, or engaging in outdoor activities. Alan will carry his love for music wherever he goes and will continue playing and sharing wherever he is

Jasmine Mathisen, clarinet

Jasmine Mathisen, age 18, is a senior at Rampart High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  She began the clarinet at age 12 in Panama City, Florida.  Jasmine was introduced to her instrument through school band, and fell in love with it instantly.  Her first clarinet was a dearly loved family inheritance. In the spring of Jasmine’s freshman year, she began private lessons.  Her first teachers were Shaun Guzman and Tyler Armenta of San Antonio, Texas.  In 2020, Jasmine’s family moved to Colorado Springs. She immediately found her current teacher, Sergei Vassiliev. Jasmine is currently Principal Clarinet in the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony and the Rampart Wind Ensemble. In 2021 and 2022 consecutively, Jasmine won 5th and 3rd Place in the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Young Artists Competition.  In 2022, she also placed 1st in the Colorado State University Pueblo Wolfpack High School Solo Contest.  At Rampart High, Jasmine is a Weighted GPA - 4 point student with honors.  She is an inspirational leader playing vibraphone in the Winter Percussion Ensemble. Jasmine plays bassoon in the Symphonic Band and violin in the school orchestra.  In 2021,she was asked to teach the school’s Concert Band Clarinetists.  This year, she is the instructor for their Clarinet Choir.  She also studies Music Theory and Ear-Training at school.  Jasmine plans to pursue a career as a professional musician, and will apply in the fall of 2022 to music colleges and conservatories of choice.  In her spare time, Jasmine enjoys baking, taking nature walks and interior decorating at home.  After high school graduation, Jasmine is looking forward to touring Greece with the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony.

Caleb Seifert, cello

Caleb Seifert, a junior at Sand Creek High School in Colorado Springs, is a Colorado native who started playing cello in the 4th grade at McAuliffe Elementary School.  Caleb started taking private lessons when he was in the 8th grade and soon began performing in competitions and events. 
He has performed in Solo and Ensemble Festivals, the Colorado Springs Cello Festival, the ASTA Certificate Advancement Program (ASTACAP), and at his church. Caleb auditioned and was accepted into the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Organization in the fall of 2019, and the Manitou Springs Chamber Festival in the summer of 2020 and continues playing with both organizations.  He is particularly drawn to chamber music and plays in ensembles whenever possible.
Caleb presented his first solo recital in July, 2020, featuring pieces by Elgar, Popper, Rubenstein and Saint-Saens. His sophomore recital included works by Bach and Schumann.  He also placed 3rd in the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Young Solo Artist Competition in 2021, and 4th place in 2022.  He also placed 3rd in the solo competition for the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs in 2021 and 4th place in 2022. Caleb performed in masterclasses at the Colorado Mesa University String Day in February 2021 with Kristen Yeon-Ji Yun and at Colorado College in the fall of 2021 with Michal Schmidt.  He was cello section leader for the Symphony Orchestra in the Colorado All State Orchestra for 2022.  Caleb won the solo competition held by the Pikes Peak Philharmonic in Colorado in 2022. 
Caleb has studied with Linda Bowen, Linda Moore Johnson, and Daniel Kopp, and has received coaching from Cullan Bryant, Jeri Jorgensen, and Roxanne Matthews. 
Caleb enjoys playing for people and plans to pursue music performance as a career. 

Jessie Zimmerman, violin

Jessie started the violin when she was three with her mother, Sunghee Zimmermann. She is currently studying with Carolyn Huebl at Vanderbilt University, where she is pursuing a double major in Violin Performance and Neuroscience. Her previous teachers include Won-Jung Lee, Jeri Jorgenson, and James Maurer. In 2018, Jessie placed second in the Seoul National Music Competition and was invited to compete nationally. She also won alternative winner in the Broomfield Symphony Orchestra Youth Concerto Competition, the Denver Young Artist Orchestra Concerto Competition, and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Colorado State division. There, she competed nationally and placed alternative winner among the Central Western States. She has also been a part of the Colorado All State Orchestra as Assistant Concertmaster. This coming summer, Jessie will be studying under Connie Heard at the Aspen Music Festival.
