ONCE UPON A CASTLE, SEPTEMBER 2019 - "Castles of Imagination" by Katie Scott
Kathryn Scott has a passion for art, culture and family. Most of her growing up years were spent living abroad in Kazakhstan, Thailand, and Turkey. At age eleven, during a stateside time, Kathryn met Colorado painter, Ellen Masters, who became her art mentor and dear friend. The art journey began. Struggling in school with dyslexia, Kathryn found art was a gift that God had given her to flourish in another way. She has experimented with watercolor, acrylics, pencil, pen and collage. Other life-giving interests include horseback riding, dance, music, youth group, and spending time with family, friends and her pet guinea pig- Rembrandt. She is currently homeschooling through High School. Kathryn would like to thank her art mentor; family and friends for their support and encouragement. Following this evening's program, there will be greeting cards available for purchase of her painting, Castles of Imagination.

EMERGENCE, JANUARY 2020 -"Majestic" by Julia McMinn Evans
Originally from Oklahoma, Julia moved to Colorado as a small child. She decided to follow her passion for the arts by pursuing an Associates in Graphic Arts/Technical Illustration/Drafting at Pikes Peak Community College, followed by a BA in Fine Arts at University of Colorado, where she graduated with honors. Her degrees have allowed her to craft an interdisciplinary approach to her work, whether it be in design, digital media, or painting.
After a successful graphic design career, Julia left the corporate cubicle behind and now paints fulltime. The Rocky Mountain West inspires her on a daily basis, and she aims to visually communicate the feel of the landscape through her use of shapes, color, and exciting textures. |
