She previously studied with Jacqueline Maurer and Christine Rewoliski. In 2022, she was the winner of the Broomfield Symphony’s Young Artist Competition. She was a finalist in the 2020 Denver Young Artists Orchestra concerto competition and won the junior division of the Colorado Young Sinfonia concerto competition in 2019.

Misa also appeared as a soloist with the Littleton Symphony Orchestra in 2013. During the summer, she has attended music festivals including Encore Chamber Music Institute, Madeline Island Chamber Music, and the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival.

Eager to share music with the community, she has played in the Non Sibi String Quartet, which was featured on Colorado Public Radio Classical, and also co-founded the Evergreen String Quartet, which performed at fundraisers and other events across Colorado.

2ND PLACE (2023) - LYDIA MCCONKIE

Lydia McConkie, age 16, has been studying violin since age 6 under the tutelage of Karina Garibova. She was awarded first place in the Youth Symphony Young Solo Artist competition and will solo with the Youth Symphony in May. Lydia was also the first place winner of the MTNA senior string division for Colorado this year. She participates with the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs and has performed as first violinist for various chamber ensembles.

She is in the top ten of her high school class, top of her varsity tennis team, and loves traveling. Favorite destinations include Greece with the Youth Symphony and Guatemala for humanitarian work. With spare time, she enjoys performing with her family.

3RD PLACE (2023) - COLE WICKERT

Cole Wickert is a senior at Palmer Ridge High School under the direction of Butch Eversole and takes private lessons from Gordon Shaffer. Cole has been playing jazz and classical saxophone for 8 years and was the principal alto saxophonist in the Colorado All-State Large School Jazz Band, Colorado All-State Symphonic Band, and CU Boulder Honor Band.

Cole was also named a finalist in the Denver Concert Band 2023 Young Artist Competition. His future plans include attending MIT for mechanical engineering and music on an AFROTC Scholarship.

1ST PLACE (2020) - IAN PATTERSON

Ian Patterson was born in Baltimore, MD in 2001. In 2005, he moved to Augusta, GA where, at the age of 4, he began his piano studies with Jinha Park. Ian has studied piano with Jinha Park, Emma Patterson, Linda Skaret, and began lessons with Ara Gevorkian in April of 2019. He has won numerous awards in local and regional piano competitions. In 2017 he was the alternate in the senior division of the CSMTNA Concerto Competition, and in 2019, he took 2nd place in the 2019 COS Young Artists Competition.

In his spare time, Ian loves to play strategic board games, read, watch movies and spend time with friends. He also loves outdoors activities such as camping and mountain biking.  Ian is active in his church and took two years off to serve a mission after winning the 2020 Chamber Orchestra Young Artist Competition - as such, we are thrilled to welcome him back to be featured on the 2023 winners showcase!
