What Is Opera 2030?

Opera 2030 is a new strategic agreement between three of Colorado’s most innovative performing arts organizations: The Chamber Orchestra of the Springs, Opera Theatre of the Rockies, and Art Song Colorado.

Opera 2030 calls for five years of chamber opera performances, with a regular focus on military programming.

Opera 2030 will focus on new operas, giving second, third, and fourth performances to those pieces of music that we hope will become tomorrow’s classics.

A History of Powerful Collaborations

Blind Injustice

In July 2023, Opera Theatre of the Rockies and the Chamber Orchestra came together to co-produce Blind Injustice, a story about six wrongly incarcerated people who were freed through the work of the Ohio Innocence Project.

Glory Denied

Then, in April 2024, Art Song Colorado joined our efforts for Glory Denied, a free performance at the US Air Force Academy of an opera telling the true story of America’s longest-held POW: Col. Jim Thompson.

Why Opera?

Collaboration is one of the three pillars of the Chamber Orchestra’s mission. We believe opera can be a vehicle to tell stories that matter to our community, with visceral power and emotion that no other genre can match. It’s also incredible music that we love to play.

After the incredible successes of Blind Injustice and Glory Denied, we believe we’ve captured something special that our community truly needs.

By committing to five years of similar types of shows, we can streamline our planning, production, budgeting, and fundraising efforts to make these shows even more successful.

How to Support Opera 2030: The Opera 2030 Club

This initiative is only possible thanks to the steadfast and generous support of individuals and institutions who believe in the mission of Opera 2030.

In order to build a strong foundation for this initiative, we are starting the Opera 2030 Club - a donor circle of supporters who will commit to donating $500 for each of the 5 years of the initiative.

Opera 2030 Club members will always have the first chance to buy tickets to Opera 2030 performances, will enjoy free VIP upgrades to their tickets, and have special opportunities to meet artists and see behind-the-scenes in our rehearsal and preparation process.

If you would like to join the Opera 2030 Club, click the button below, where you can make a recurring, annual donation. We would especially like to thank the Opera 2030 Club Founding Members, who committed to five years of donations prior to the first Opera 2030 performance.
